An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Building Control team at Warrington Borough Council. Positions have become available due to staff progression, continued growth and the Authority’s commitment to invest in the Building Control Service.

Working in the Building Control team at Warrington Borough Council will provide opportunities to work on a variety of caseload including domestic new build and alterations, educational and healthcare buildings, large commercial projects and domestic volume house building. Complexities range from 2A low-rise domestic, through to high rise 3G & 3H buildings. The service has successfully introduced learning and development pathways, and we are fortunate to have Registered Building Inspectors at Class 1 Trainee, Class 2A-F, Class 3G-H Specialist and 4 Technical Manager.
As a Registered Building Inspector, you will support the Council’s duty to enforce the Building Regulations and associated legislation. Applications from Registered Building Inspectors at level 2A-F are preferred, but also welcome from those registered at 2A and working towards expanding to 2B-F. Caseload and salary will reflect experience levels and BSR registration classification.
Working within a team, you will undertake restricted building control activities. This will include plan checking applications, and inspecting works on site for compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation. You will also undertake inspection of property reported as dangerous along with processing demolition applications.
The role offers flexible hybrid working with support and as a member of our team you will have access to learning pathways through LABC levels 4, 5 and 6.
• You will need to be client focussed to build upon our success and maximise opportunities.
• A degree or similar equivalent building related qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
• You must be a Registered Building Inspector with the Building Safety Regulator at Class 2 Category A as a minimum, but preferably above category 2A.
• You will have relevant practical experience with evidence of appropriate specialist knowledge and the ability to understand technical problems and interpret legislation effectively.
• You will be experienced in plan checking and site inspections, and maintaining clear, concise and accurate records.
• You must be able to work on your own initiative and manage priorities, especially when working with competing caseload demands.
• It is essential that you have excellent communication skills to effectively carry out your duties whilst dealing with a number of stakeholders.
