Building Control Team Manager
Salary: £67,253 inclusive of a £6500 Market adjustment

Epping Forest District Council are seeking a Building Control Team Manager to lead our fully staffed and competency validated team of Registered Building Inspectors. The Council’s Building Control service have adjusted well to the changes brought by the Building Safety Act, having invested in training, development and new back-office software that can be utilised efficiently for mandatory reporting to the regulator. This is a high-performing service that a new leader can shape as we continue to adapt and deliver continuous improvement.
You will work as part of a motivated team and will be responsible for overall performance of the service and leadership of the team. You will also be part of the wider leadership team of the Council and will support the Director of Planning Services with matters relating to Building Control. You will be a subject matter expert in Building Regulations compliance, enforcement and other public safety duties including the response to, and remedy of, dangerous buildings and structures. You will be comfortable examining plans and inspecting sites from your extensive experience in Building Control and be able to deliver direction and support to the team in the delivery of their functions.
You will have a recognised Building Surveying or Building Control Surveying qualification and validated competency with registration with the Building Safety Regulator supported by professional membership of a relevant body such as the RICS, CABE or CIOB.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as you will be liaising with members of the public, designers and contractors. You must be IT literate and possess a full driving licence and have access to a vehicle for use.
