Based in or close to the North Derbyshire region, you will experience plenty of variety as you manage and progress a broad range of building control projects to effective completion. In addition, you will help to grow our business by establishing and strengthening working relationships with architects, developers as well as other existing or potential clients.

We are looking for someone who has at least two years’ experience in a similar role and who is a member or, at least, working towards membership of an appropriate body including RICS, CABE or CIOB. You will need to be able to display good customer service skills, using them to establish and maintain productive business relationships with customers and partners.

Responsibilities

Processing all building regulation applications and ensuring speedy determination under delegated powers including all matters of vetting, planning and inspection under the Building Control Regulations, Building Acts and allied legislation

To carry out inspections of Dangerous Structures or reported drainage problems and to prepare the appropriate notice at the request of the Building Control Area Manger 

To maintain an awareness and understanding of legislation and legal precedents as they relate to building control issues.

To investigate unauthorised building works and to take appropriate action as necessary by providing advice to issue notices of non–compliance with Building Regulations under S.35/36 of the Building Act 1984.

Essential qualifications/skills
Working towards or full membership of an appropriate body including RICS, CABE or CIOB
Desirable qualifications/skills
IT skills with experience in the use of information technology/back office systems to support service provision
Sound knowledge of the Building Regulations, the Building Act, Approved Documents, British Standards and other Guidance Documents
