Wakefield Council is investing in its Building Control Service and we are seeking two talented Building Control Officers to join our ambitious and expanding team. This is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including complex developments whilst helping shape the future of Building Control across the district.
We are looking to recruit an ambitious person who is interested in furthering their career in local government as a Registered Building Control Inspector
Depending on your qualifications and experience, we are looking for either an assistant or building control surveyor to help us to deliver a high-quality Building Control service - if you are pro-active and enthusiastic, then we would welcome your application.
While this is career graded opportunity G6 – G10, which has a number of potential starting points.
We will offer a starting salary to the successful candidate within the grade range that reflects your current skills knowledge and experience.
We are currently looking for someone registered with the BSR at a minimum of Class 2A. This would attract a salary starting on G10 which is £42,839 to £46,142. If you are classed above 2A you would receive a market forces supplement of £6,000 per annum, so the pay range would be £48,839 to £52,142.
About the Role
You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality Building Control service, undertaking:
• Plan assessments and technical reviews
• Site inspections across a range of developments
• Advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders
• Enforcement and compliance activities
• Dangerous structures and demolition work
• Maintaining high professional standards and accurate records
Knowledge of public safety work such as demolitions, dangerus structures and safety at sporst grounds
