About the Role

Wakefield Council is investing in its Building Control Service, and we are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Building Control Surveyor to join our ambitious and expanding team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, including complex developments and higher-risk buildings, whilst helping to shape the future of Building Control across the district.

We are looking for a surveyor who is currently registered at Building Inspector Class 2 and is aspiring to achieve Class 3 registration. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in Building Control, together with extensive knowledge of Building Regulations, associated legislation and regulatory practice.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake complex plan assessments and site inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with Building Regulations and undertake enforcement action where necessary.
  • Manage dangerous structures, emergency response work and demolition notifications.
  • Support major development projects and higher-risk buildings.
  • Work closely with developers, architects, contractors and other stakeholders to deliver safe and sustainable development.
  • Mentor and support colleagues, helping to develop future Building Control professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to compliance, governance, quality management and audit processes.
Essential qualifications/skills
