We currently have an exciting vacancy for an aspiring Group Leader within our Building Control service to enable us to continue to build on our success and bring new experience, knowledge, and ideas into the team working under guidance and mentorship of our Building Control Service Lead.
About the Role –
As Building Control Team Leader, you will support the Senior Building Control Service Lead in managing, supervising and mentoring an established team of registered inspectors, and technical support staff, together with handling your own Building Regulation casework.
Ideally Class 3 registered (or working toward Class 3 registration), you should have extensive experience of applying Building Regulations and working as part of multi-disciplinary teams. Key responsibilities will also include dealing with alleged unauthorised work, enforcement, contravention resolution, dangerous buildings investigations, sports ground safety, and licensing. Participation in the out-of-hours call-out service is also required (with additional payment).
You will help structure service delivery, drive service improvements, and be part of a collaborative and innovative team that values knowledge-sharing and professional development.
We are seeking a talented individual ready to step in to a Team Leader role and to work alongside the Building Control Service Lead, Registered Building Inspectors, and dedicated technical support staff to help manage a diverse Building Control service.
You must have extensive experience in applying Building Regulations across all building types and a detailed understanding of current and emerging legislation is essential. Ideally, you will be Class 3 registered, degree qualified, and a full member of a professional body (e.g., RICS, CABE).
You will be able to prioritise and manage a varied workload, have strong communication skills, and a problem-solving mindset. You should demonstrate a commitment to excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement, taking responsibility for delivering high-quality outcomes and adapting to challenges effectively.
