Your Role

As the new Head of Building Control, you'll lead a team of building inspectors tackling diverse projects from historic buildings to modern developments. You'll manage service budgets and strategies, enhancing efficiency and innovation through excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will bring managerial experience to be able to grow a competent high-performing team that adheres to council policies, supported by continual professional development and mentoring.

Responsibilities

We are looking for Class 3/4 BSR registration but will consider exceptional candidates with Class 2F/4 who will bring extensive experience in Building Control and a proven track record of leading a Building Control team in the public or private sector. You will possess strong technical knowledge of building regulations, fire safety, and emerging construction technologies.

We're seeking someone with excellent stakeholder management skills, capable of working effectively with elected members, developers, and residents, who thrive working in a fast-paced environment and has a deep commitment to public service and safety. You should have a strategic problem-solving mindset, driving service improvements and financial sustainability.

A full UK driving license is necessary for travelling to different locations within the borough of Stockport. Possess the necessary IT skills to deal with the electronic processing of plans, capture of site reports and documents to bespoke systems and email communication with our stakeholders

Essential qualifications/skills
BSR Class 2F/4, 3 or 4 registration
Valid UK driving license
