We have an exciting development opportunity for an Assistant Building Control Inspector to join our award-winning Building Control team. This role will help support the delivery of Solihull Council’s responsibilities under the Building Safety Act and delivering high-quality Building Control services across the borough.
You’ll be an integral part of a high-performing and growing team that works closely with Planning, Solihull Community Housing, project delivery teams and our suite of external customers to ensure safe, compliant, and sustainable development.

As an Assistant Building Control Inspector, you will
- Hone your skills on your pathway to a career in Building Control
- Support the administration and implementation of building regulations and allied legislation.
- Assist Officers and, as your experience grows, progress to independently carry out inspections, compliance visits, investigations, surveys, and interventions across a variety of building control settings.
- Help support the delivery of relevant enforcement activities, and maintain accurate case records, responding within corporate timescales and keeping stakeholders informed.
- Contribute to proactive project work, complaint investigations, and educational/training initiatives as your knowledge develops.
