About

How would you like to make the exciting step to join the Rochdale Building Control team as one of our Domestic Building Surveyors?

You’ll be working within a great team of highly professional Registered Building Inspectors of class 3 specialist, class 4 technical manager, 2A-F, 2A, apprentices and with a dedicated Technical Support team - we are passionate about the service we deliver and our work was recognised at the 2024 annual LABC awards and our own council ‘ACE Awards’ with concurrent nominations for LABC team of the year, and winners of two building excellence awards 2024/ 25 with our central organisation LABC.

As a result, we have a strong client base and can provide you with the opportunity to work on a wide variety of exciting projects across the borough and further afield though partnership working. We have also invested in a new IT solution to modernise the way we work including utilisation of on site working devices.

More broadly, the council has an exciting regeneration agenda with a significant economic growth opportunity for Greater Manchester and the wider North West region.

We are already delivering on our plans to create over one million square metres of employment space, 20,000 jobs, and 10,000 new homes connected by new and enhanced infrastructure and transport links in Atom Valley and have ambitious regeneration plans for our town centres.

Home to 8,000 businesses, the Atom Valley Mayoral Development Zone, Northern Gateway and Rochdale Rail Corridor - the scale of opportunity is huge and so there has never been a better time to join us.

In terms of candidates, we are seeking a Class 2 A Registered Building Inspector who can demonstrate strong technical skills and customer focus.

This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to join a highly experienced and well-resourced team with support offered to progress your registration class by supervised and shadowed working on all types of building work.

We also require you to be able to undertake out of hours dangerous building inspections on a rota basis with the wider team and for which we pay an additional allowance and overtime if called out, we can offer training to the right candidate.

In return, we can offer a highly competitive package, generous leave entitlement and payment of your professional fees and BSR registration costs.

We also offer a flexible working policy and have award winning offices in the heart of the town centre within the Rochdale Riverside development which has seen over £400m invested to deliver offices, homes, a new hotel and high-quality retail and leisure facilities.

If you think this sounds something you’d be interested in, please do get in touch for an informal discussion with Dane Wright, Head of Building Control on 01706 924 327 or 07966288341.
