Plymouth City Council Local Authority Building Control (LABC) is looking for an exceptional Principal Registered Building Inspector to play a leading role in shaping one of the South West’s most dynamic cities. What you’ll be doing
You’ll operate at a Principal level, bringing expertise, leadership and assurance to a wide range of building control activities:
- Registered with the BSR at Class 2E, as a minimum, and actively maintaining competency standards
- Leading inspections across domestic and commercial projects to ensure full compliance with Building Regulations
- Overseeing applications and delivering timely, high-quality regulatory decisions
- Responding to dangerous structures and providing critical on-site expertise
- Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to support successful project delivery
- Contributing to the evolution of building control policies and best practices
- Mentoring and developing junior team members, setting the standard through your leadership
Class 2 (2A-2E) minimum and
with clear evidence of a
commitment to maintenance of
competency and continuous
professional development.
▪ Degree or equivalent in Surveying
or similar. Membership of a
relevant professional institute,
such as the Royal Institute of
Chartered Surveyors, Chartered
Association of Building Engineers,
Chartered Institute of Building,
or required to start the process
of applying for and working
towards such membership within
6 months of your start date for
the post.
