We’re looking for a talented and motivated Building Control Surveyor to join the North Yorkshire Building Control Partnership (NYBCP) — the UK’s first and most established local authority building control partnership. Whether you're an experienced surveyor or working towards qualification, we want to hear from you.
About Us
At NYBCP, we’re proud to set the standard for modern, collaborative public sector building control. Representing North Yorkshire Council, we work with a wide range of residential, commercial and complex development projects — from historic renovations to sustainable new builds.
We don’t just ensure compliance with the Building Act 1984 — we promote safety, sustainability, accessibility, and great design. Join us, and you’ll be part of a respected, innovative and supportive team, delivering a vital service with pride.
What You’ll Do
- Conduct site inspections and assess building plans to ensure full compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to clients, architects, and developers on compliance, technical standards, and best practices.
- Lead or support enforcement actions and contribute to maintaining high standards of public safety.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure a professional, solution-focused service.
What You’ll Bring
- A good understanding of Building Regulations and relevant legislation (Level 3, 4 or 5 Surveyors welcome).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Strong organisational ability and attention to detail — able to manage your workload and work independently.
- A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to learn, adapt, and grow.
- Relevant qualifications (or working towards) in Building Control, Surveying or Construction disciplines.
Why Join Us?
At NYBCP, we value people just as much as performance. We offer a flexible, forward-thinking environment where you can thrive — both personally and professionally.
- Flexible Hybrid Working: Work from home, an office near you, or on-site — we trust you to work in the way that suits you and the role.
- Career Progression: Whether you're just starting out or looking to develop further, we’ll support you with a clear progression pathway, mentoring and financial support for qualifications.
