About

We are seeking two experienced and qualified Registered Building Inspectors (Domestic) to join our team. These vital roles involve delivering the Building Control function within the Council’s jurisdiction and through partnering or similar schemes, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory standards.

As a Registered Building Inspector, you will conduct technical assessments and activities for Class 2, Category A, B, and C buildings, making informed decisions using your professional knowledge, skills, and experience.

Essential qualifications/skills
The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in Building Control, particularly with Class 2 category A, B, and C building types, alongside post-qualification experience, including restricted activities, functions, and enforcement.
They will be registered with the Building Safety Regulator as a building inspector and demonstrate competency to work independently on domestic projects, under supervision on non-domestic low-risk buildings (Class 2 categories D, E, F), and under supervision on higher-risk buildings (Class 3 categories G, H).
Proficiency in examining Principal Designers' plans, conducting site inspections, compiling detailed reports, and maintaining accurate records is essential, ensuring compliance with building regulations and accountability under the Building Safety Act 2022.
A strong understanding of construction methods, techniques, and materials is required, with a relevant degree or equivalent professional learning highly desirable. High standards of customer service across diverse activities are also expected.
Desirable qualifications/skills
Experience working on building types such as hospitals, airports and football stadia and associated legislation.
