This is a great opportunity to join Hounslow’s Building Control Service as a Building Control Team Manager.
Working as part of a busy and ambitious team, up to Class 3 level, the successful candidate will carry out examination and inspection of Building Regulation submissions, plans and site work to ensure building works comply with Building Regulations, including complex projects.
You will assist the Head of Building Control with the operation and management of one of the two main areas within the Borough and to undertake inspection/work when required out of Borough. The role will include consultation and liaison with other sections and departments.
The successful candidate will ensure that Building Control work is carried out in accordance with documented procedures, timescales and deadlines.
If requested, you will join the Dangerous Structure Rota to assist in the provision of an out of hours emergency service.
The role and the team are situated in our Planning and Buildings service, working with the Head of Building Control to ensure Building Control services are delivered in an efficient way.
Your area team resolve complex Building Control related issues and as part of that, amongst other requirements, you will be required to;
1. Undertake examination for compliance Building Regulation Applications (including Full Plan, Regularisation, Reversion and Building Notices together with appropriate amendments) deposited under the Building Regulations and associated legislation as instructed and making recommendations to the Head of Building Control.
2. Manage and support a small team within an area of the Borough.
3. Undertake and manage efficient and regular Building Regulation inspections for all projects in the borough (including complex projects and MDT work).
4. To carry out efficient inspections and to report accurately on dangerous structures and advise on remedial measures to be undertaken.
