You will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Project or Construction Management, or an equivalent relevant discipline. Professional membership with CIBSE, IMechE, IET, CIOB or a similar body would be desirable.
You will have proven experience of delivering mechanical and electrical projects across design and construction stages, including the management of external consultants and contractors involved in M&E design and installation. You will have strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical design and construction processes, together with an understanding of relevant statutory frameworks including the Building Safety Act 2022, CDM 2015, Building Regulations and CIBSE standards.
You will need strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical matters clearly to non-specialists, together with good ICT skills including Office 365. Familiarity with design and engineering software outputs would be beneficial. You must also be able to manage project budgets, risk and contract administration under JCT and NEC arrangements.
A full driving licence and access to a vehicle are required, as this post is designated as an essential car user role and will involve site visits and attendance outside normal office hours when required.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Mechanical & Electrical Projects Manager to support the delivery of capital projects across the Council’s estate.
The postholder will lead the mechanical and electrical design and project management of allocated capital projects from inception to completion, acting as client lead on M&E matters and ensuring statutory compliance, technical quality and value for money. The role includes feasibility, options appraisal, design development, specification, procurement, contract administration and construction delivery.
The postholder will also manage and co-ordinate external consultants, contractors and specialists, while working closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure building services solutions are fully integrated and projects remain on programme and within budget. The role includes regular site visits and liaison with senior officers, Members and other stakeholders as required. This wording is drawn from the JD primary purpose and main duties.
