The position leads one of two teams of Building Control Surveyors across a nominated geographical area within Cheshire East, together with a team of customer facing support staff responsible for Building Control administration and promotion. The role leads, develops and manages the teams supporting the "Principal Manager - Building Control & Planning Systems", whilst working alongside another consultancy manager responsible for quality & systems.

The position is expected to provide professional expertise and support to the Building Control team working within a quality management framework in line with national and local performance indicators

The role presents an exciting opportunity for someone who currently works within the Building Control profession, who is aiming to enhance their responsibilities, moving to a more managerial position.

It forms part of the service's management team and the successful applicant will be responsible for the leadership, development and management of a team of professional Building Control Engineers, together with a team of customer facing support staff. The role will primarily support the Principal Manager in the management of Building Control and wider functions whilst continuing to ensure the Building Control team continues to operate within the service's quality management system.

Essential qualifications/skills
The post holder will be expected to have expert knowledge in the Building Control profession together with allied legislation. In addition to general staff day to day management you will be responsible for income generation, training, staff development and overall service promotion, bringing a dynamic and proactive approach with business expertise in a competitive environment.
