Building Control Section

Our busy Building Control Section covers a wide range of work from commercial town centre schemes to domestic developments.

Bury has an extremely active development sector. Growth potential is boosted by its excellent M60/M66 access and the Metro link trams to Manchester City Centre.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a hardworking, ambitious and enthusiastic Senior Building Control Officer who possess excellent communication skills and is a committed team player.

You will be expected to take part in the ‘out of hours’ rota, for responding to reports of dangerous structures 24/7, for which an additional payment is made.

You will be expected to mentor and advise junior members of the team through their training and development needs.

Essential qualifications/skills
You will be able to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of the legislation and technical documents which underpin the Building Regulations; your ability to solve problems pragmatically; and your ability in dealing with reports regarding dangerous structures. Most importantly you will be able to work with a range of clients from homeowners to large commercial / industrial developers who expect a prompt service and high quality advice to realise aspirations.
Desirable qualifications/skills
Ideally you should be fully-qualified, or in the final stages of gaining, membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. RICS or CABE). We are a registered RICS training provider and will support you in achieving your annual CPD requirements.
