An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Building Control Team for a Surveyor to work across both Babergh and Mid Suffolk Authorities.

The Building Control Team is at the forefront of helping to bring about culture change within the construction industry, supporting the new Building Safety Regulator and furthering the role of the public sector in upholding standards in the built environment.

We are proud of the role we play in creating the environment, economy and communities for our districts. Babergh and Mid Suffolk have consistently been voted amongst the top places to live in the UK. Working together across our councils and with our partners in the public, private and voluntary sectors, we provide excellent services to our 190,000 residents across Babergh and Mid Suffolk - working hard to provide homes, support our communities, boost local economy, protect our environment and keep our districts clean, tidy and safe.

For the right person there will be opportunities for progression within the team through our career grade framework and you will be provided with full support for career and personal development to fulfil your potential. We offer a generous leave entitlement, access to the Suffolk Green Travel Plan, discount scheme and pension scheme.

This role is normally based at our modern and conveniently located office at Endeavour House, Ipswich, however, during the COVID 19 pandemic, we have been working from home, fully supported, and it has worked really well for us.

A driving licence / access to transport is required for the post. An essential car user allowance is applicable to this post and can be claimed for business mileage.

Building Control are an established and highly respected team providing a statutory as well as commercial service to the residents of Babergh and Mid Suffolk and beyond. We are working together with an integrated staffing structure to provide a joint Building Control Service across the districts with all the benefits of agile working.
