Pennine Lancashire Building Control is a Building Control service, managed and operated on behalf of both Blackburn with Darwen and Burnley Borough Councils, which provides a high-quality customer focused service with a strong commitment to growth and regeneration.
 

Responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our team to serve our current Partner Authorities as we look to appoint the right candidates to the role of a Building Control Surveyor.

The two positions available offer a varied and challenging role which will provide opportunities to work across a wide variety of projects with a comprehensive case-load.

The Service already has a pipeline of stimulating projects across a range of sectors including major town centre developments, health schemes and large scale residential; and you will be instrumental in working and assisting on these schemes as they are delivered.  

Moreover, you will have the opportunity to help grow the Service, building relationships with architects and developers and adopting a development-team approach.

Essential qualifications/skills
HNC.HND or NVQ level 4 in Building Studies or related construction subject.
Possession of a current full driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle.
Theoretical knowledge and understanding of the full range of duties expected of a Building Control Officer.
Excellent customer care skills, along with a good commercial awareness are essential.
In addition, applicants should be able to demonstrate a strong commitment towards continued professional development. A high degree of self-motivation, excellent organisation skills and a positive approach will be essential in order to fulfil the role on offer along with the ability to work as part of the team to deliver a quality service on time and within budget.
Successful applicants should also be prepared to travel within the administrative boundaries of the Partnership Boroughs.
