Who we are looking for

ENGIE are recruiting for a Senior Building Control Surveyor to be based in Grimsby. This is a permanent full-time role working 37.5 hours per week and taking part in an on call rota. On offer is a salary up to £37,800 plus standby rota allowance, depending on knowledge skills and experience, and benefits package.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate is an experienced Building Control Surveyor who would like to further develop their skills, however applications are also welcome from enthusiastic and motivated candidates with a relevant qualification of significant experience in the Building profession. There is then the opportunity with the right motivation and training to be developed.

Essential qualifications/skills
Degree in Building Control or significant relevant experience
Accreditation to LABC competency matrix level 5A-6 or equivalent knowledge skills and experience and committed to gain accreditation – from experience
Corporate membership of RICS, CABE or CIOB (or willing to work towards)
Detailed knowledge of statutory and regulatory frameworks in building control
Knowledge of the Building Acts, Building Regulations, Approved Inspector legislation and a detailed knowledge and understanding of Local Authority Building Control and associated legislation, policy trends and legal processes is desirable.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Be a positive team worker and excellent customer care skills
Must have a flexible approach to changing and challenging situations to meet service pressures together with ability to participate in the on call rota to respond to emergency situations.
The ability to promote and achieve a responsive and effective approach to dealing with customers, complaints and service issues
Ability to market and sell our services
Desirable qualifications/skills
Must hold or be willing to work towards a relevant Building Control qualification
Experience in dealing with complex Building Regulation applications is desirable however applications are welcome from less experienced persons or persons with a relevant Building qualification of experience
Be trained or be willing to train in associated skills (such as a Fire Safety Specialism, SAP and EPC Assessor, SBEM etc
